Campanile on Commerce brings high-quality housing to Second Ward

Newly constructed community provides affordable options for seniors.

January 13, 2022 -- Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and local officials today joined residents to celebrate the grand opening of Campanile on Commerce, a new rental development in Houston’s historic Second Ward, a Complete Community . Located at 2929 Commerce Street, Houston, Texas 77002, Campanile on Commerce is an apartment-home community offering one- and two-bedroom homes for seniors 55 and older.

This three-story development features 120 units with accessible rent that allows for residents with varying income levels. “Our seniors deserve to live in a community that is affordable and takes into consideration their specific needs, said Mayor Sylvester Turner.
“In addition to a widespread sidewalk system that allows easy access to friends and neighbors, this complex is strategically located near a park and less than a quarter-mile from the nearest public transit stop. Housing like this gives our active seniors access to amenities, businesses, and opportunities at a walkable scale.”

Community highlights include landscaped green areas, close-range parking, and an extensive sidewalk system.

Campanile on Commerce also offers a diverse selection of community amenities including a fitness center, business center, activity room, and clubhouse center. Residents have the option to take supportive classes on nutrition, adult education, credit counseling, and more. An onsite shuttle service is also available to transport residents to medical appointments.

The City of Houston pledged $3.5 million of federal HOME Investment Partnership Program funds, toward the total cost of the $25 million development. These apartments assist in the City of Houston’s effort to grow the supply of housing options for seniors that are affordable, high-quality, and in areas that are opportunity-rich.

Campanile on Commerce was developed by Kilday Partners, LLC in a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone in partnership with BBVA and constructed by Blazer Building, Inc.
