Avenue 360 Health and Wellness to open new location in Midtown

City funded land purchase for eighth facility providing health and medical care

October 15, 2021 -- Avenue 360 Health and Wellness and community stakeholders cut the ribbon on their eighth location, in Midtown, which will provide health and medical services to the community. Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas attended the event on behalf of Mayor Turner. Located at 2920 Fannin Street, Houston 77002, the community facility will offer healthcare and supportive services. The City funded $1.1 million through the Community Development Block Grant program for the acquisition of the land to build the facility.

“The City has a long and productive working relationship with Avenue 360 for more than 20 years,” said Mayor Sylvester Turner. “This organization is key to providing access to high-quality healthcare for everyone, including those who are already living on the fringes. We are proud to have funded the land acquisition for this facility and pleased to see the building now opening to the public.”

Services that will be offered at the Fannin location in Midtown include dental, medical primary care for acute and chronic conditions, adult day activities, HIV/AIDS education, testing, linkage to care and treatment services as well as behavioral health, including psychiatry and therapy. The Midtown facility is one of only two locations that provide dental services and the only location to provide adult day activities programming.

From land acquisition to funding for services, Avenue 360 has received funding from the City’s Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) since 2000. As the needs of their clients shift, the nature of the funding changes, too. For the new Midtown location, HCD funded the land acquisition for the building to be constructed and will continue to help with programs and services offered at Avenue 360’s multiple community facilities.

“The more access to high-quality, affordable health care the residents of Midtown and Third Ward have the better,” said Dr. Charlene Flash, President and CEO of Avenue 360. “The land for our new campus was made possible by the City of Houston, and we are immensely grateful to Mayor Turner and his housing team. This is a shining example of their dedication to fostering vibrant communities.”

The City also funds Avenue 360’s programs through various sources such as Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS. For additional information on Avenue 360, visit https://avenue360.org .
