City Makes $12 Million Available For Third Round Of Harvey Recovery Multifamily Development
June 22, 2021 -- The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) has issued a third round of funding, currently estimated at $12 million, for the Harvey Multifamily Program. Through this funding round, the Harvey Multifamily Program expects to make its final awards to developers, primarily as gap funding to cover the rising costs of building materials. A pre-proposal conference was held June 11, 2021, and a recording discussing updates to HCD policies and requirements is available to view. The Harvey Multifamily Program is supported through a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery 2017 (CDBG-DR17), provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with oversight from the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Of the program’s $450 million total funding intended to replace and expand the housing stock lost during Hurricane Harvey, $437 has been committed, primarily to 37 developments, which together will create or rehabilitate nearly 4,200 rental homes.
