Barn

The new modern, state of the art, Mounted Patrol Facility was completed in early 2009 and on April 27, 2009 the move began to relocate all police personnel and horses to our new home. Our new and greatly improved facility is a welcome change from the former, much smaller, facility which was located at 300 North Post Oak Lane for almost 25 years. The new facility is a long-awaited and pleasing addition to the Houston Police Department and for the citizens of Houston, particularly in the northeast quadrant of the city and, as well as, our police mounts.

The new facility encompasses fifteen (15) acres, 5.5 acres of which are cross fenced turn out pasture area. The barn consists of forty-six (46) 14' X 12' stalls which include a 45' long X 12' wide outside run attached. The barn also contains an office for stable attendants, four (4) wash racks with infrared heaters for winter use, a veterinary medical treatment area, two commercial size washers and dryers, two air conditioned tack rooms, a feed storage area, storage space for supplies and equipment, along with a large recessed manure dumpster pit for easy access We also have a demonstration area with covered bleachers, along with a 200' long X 100' wide covered arena along with an adjacent round pen. There is a covered service bay area for hay and alfalfa storage, as well as for large equipment.
