LOCATION: South Main is an area along South Main Street on both sides of Loop 610.
COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY: Astroworld, which has since been demolished, was located south of the Loop. South Main Street was a major highway leading into the city before the Southwest Freeway was built. Most of the residential development in the area consists of large multi-family complexes. The Main Street Coalition and the South Main Alliance (SMA) are working jointly to create a dramatic gateway to the corridor at Main Street and Loop 610 South.
