Through this internship program, you’ll have an opportunity to build practical skills and work on real projects that impact neighborhoods, infrastructure, mobility and the development of the city.

Team Internship Areas

Community & Regional Planning: Helps shape Houston's future by supporting neighborhood planning, community engagement, and resilience initiatives.

Development Services (Permitting & Platting): Reviews subdivision plats and development site plans for compliance with city development regulations.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Responsible for maintaining the City's geospatial data for all departments and map requests.

Historic Preservation: Helps maintain Houston's architectural history through preservation initiatives.

Transportation Planning: Responsible for the long-range planning of the city’s transportation network.

Administrative Services: Supports the department’s daily operations, communications, and customer service efforts.
