Land Use
Nearly half (47.1%) of certified appraised parcels within Loop 610 are comprised of single-family and industrial land uses. Single-family units are spread throughout Loop 610 while most of the industrial uses lie on the east side. The industrial parcels here are flanked by multiple modes of transportation including the Ship Channel, rail yards and Interstate 10. There is a pocket of industrial warehouses on the northwest side of Loop 610 that houses many construction and building trade businesses. Just under 10% of the land in Loop 610 is undeveloped giving rise to the availability of new development projects. The two largest undeveloped parcels – 80 acres cumulatively – are located within the industrial area in the northwest part of Loop 610.
