Gigi LeeGigi Lee
Chief of International Affairs

As the Chief of International Affairs, Gigi oversees the Office of Trade and International Affairs, the Protocol Office, and Consular Corps relations. In this role, she leads efforts to position Houston as a premier international hub through global partnerships, trade initiatives, and strong local engagement.

With over three decades of experience in public service, government affairs, and international engagement, Gigi brings a wealth of expertise in diplomacy, trade relations, and cross-cultural collaboration. She is committed to building partnerships with local organizations that reflect Houston’s diverse global population and foster business and cultural connections.

Gigi has a proven track record of strengthening international ties at both the state and local levels. Her previous roles include serving as Community Affairs Director for Texas Senate District 15 and working with Houston’s Aviation Department—Houston Airport System—where she supported the expansion of international air service and oversaw diplomatic coordination and assistance programs for Houston’s airports. She has served under three former mayors, adding valuable experience to the current administration.

As the founder of the Asia Houston Network and former president of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce, Gigi has been instrumental in promoting international business and cultural exchanges. Her leadership extends to her service on the Mayor’s Advisory Board for International Affairs and Development, where she helped shape Houston’s global outreach for over a decade.

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, she earned a degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Houston and is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum (ALF).
