Sponsorship

Sponsorship programs are set up by the City to allow homeowner associations the opportunity to obtain collection services beyond those provided by the City through a contractor of their choice.  Homeowners’ associations are incorporated entities that have membership that consists of the owners of single-family residences in a defined geographic community.

Homeowners’ associations act as independent entities and are responsible for the supervision and day-to-day administration of the collection service contracts.  Private collection companies contract with the homeowners’ associations to provide service, and the city reimburses the associations for the cost of solid waste services provided, not to exceed an amount established by City Council.  The communities served through homeowners’ associations are responsible for costs above the amount allocated by Council.  Currently, the maximum amount reimbursable is $6.00 per month per service unit authorized in the sponsorship agreement.
