Houston Police Department’s Southeast Division responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person with a weapon. Officers located an individual matching the description given walking in the roadway at the location. As officers exited their patrol vehicle, the suspect opened fire at the officers, striking one of the officers. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect. Other responding units arrived on scene and provided life-saving measures to both the officer and the suspect. Both the officer and the suspect were transported by ambulance to area hospitals in stable condition.
