Houston Police officers with the North Division Crime Suppression Team were conducting surveillance on a possible robbery suspect. The suspect was observed entering a business and robbing the employees at gunpoint. The suspect exited the store and began running away on foot, at which time the officers attempted to arrest the suspect. One officer exited his vehicle as the suspect was running towards him and could see a pistol in the suspect's hands. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. First aid was given to the suspect until he was transported to an area hospital by the Houston Fire Department. The suspect succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. No officers were injured during this incident.
