Houston Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. Officers approached the vehicle and asked the driver to step out since he did not produce a valid ID when asked. Officers were later able to verify his identity and learned that he had several outstanding warrants, one of them being a felony warrant. While Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, a struggle ensued. The suspect resisted arrest and started to fight the officers, resulting in one officer discharging his taser at the suspect. The suspect continued to fight officers after being tasered. One officer discharged their duty weapon at the suspect, striking him at least one time. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was last known to be in critical condition.
