A Houston Police Department Sergeant observed a vehicle speeding. The Sergeant activated his lights and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle pulled into the location and exited the vehicle. The suspect began walking away resisting detention. The Sergeant and suspect got into a struggle, and both fell to the ground the suspect choked and struck the sergeant with an unknown object. The Sergeant struck the suspect with his firearm, the suspect fled on foot and was apprehended shortly after. The suspect was transported to HCA Northwest Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The sergeant suffered minor injuries, and no other officers were injured during this incident.
