Houston Police Officers were responding to two robberies that occurred near each other which also had the same suspect description. Several officers started searching the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the suspect. While driving a few blocks away from the second robbery, a Houston Police Officer located a male fitting the description of the suspect who was said to have been riding an electric scooter. The officer followed the suspect where he was able to pull his vehicle in front of the suspect and exit his car. The suspect then evaded arrest on foot, running away from the pursuing officer. The suspect ran behind a tree as the officer was giving him verbal commands to stop. While behind the tree, the suspect produced a pistol and started firing toward the officer, who was able to return fire, at which time the suspect start again running away until he collapsed on the ground a short distance away. First aid was provided to the suspect, but he succumbs to his wounds and was pronounced deceased by the Houston Fire Department.
