Officers were dispatched to a shooting in progress regarding a male suspect that was firing a weapon into the air and possibly at vehicles. Officers engaged the male suspect, who raised his weapon towards them and attempted to shoot, but the weapon malfunctioned. Officers subsequently discharged their weapons at the suspect striking him at least one time in the chest. The suspect attempted to flee after being shot but was apprehended without further incident and transported to Ben Taub Hospital.
