Houston Police Department Midwest Patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting in Progress call for service. Officers arrived on scene and located an injured female laying outside of the apartment who was later identified as one of the reportees. This female stated that her son was upstairs in the apartment, armed with a gun, and had shot it in the apartment at least one time. The female also mentioned that her two daughters were also in the apartment with him. Officers went upstairs, knocked on the door, and announced themselves as Houston Police. The male suspect from inside the apartment discharged his weapon through the door at the officers. In response, one officer discharged his duty weapon through the apartment door. The male suspect eventually came out and surrendered and was taken into HPD custody. The suspect sustained an injury to his right hand as a result of the shooting and was then transported to a nearby hospital by HFD. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and charges of Aggravated Assault-Peace Officer and Aggravated Assault-Deadly Weapon (Family Member) were accepted against the male suspect. No officers were injured during this incident.
