Houston Police Officers assigned to North Patrol conducted a trespassing investigation at a gas station. When they detained two males at that location, one male was given a warning and told to vacate the property. The second man, the suspect, was found to have warrants for his arrest and while the officers conducted a pat down for weapons, they discovered a pistol concealed in his waistband. The officers tried to handcuff the suspect, but he began to resist by pushing and pulling away from the officers and he continued to try to move his hands towards the pistol as the officers told him not to. During the struggle, the suspect was shot one time and the officers were then able to handcuff him and remove the pistol from his waistband. Officers provided immediate first aid until the Houston Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital. The suspect did not survive his injury and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
