Officer was notifed by a citizen that there was an armed individual in the area who was discharging a firearm. The officer along with backup went to the loaction where the individual was reported to be and found the suspect who was armed with a shotgun. The officers told the suspect to drop his weapon at which time the suspect turned the weapon towards them causing the officers to discharge their firearm. The suspect was transported to the hospital and treated for the sustained gunshot wounds.
