January 2, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 12500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 31).

The deceased male is identified as Daniel Farrar, 49.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer D. Ortega reported:

A minor crash with three vehicles occurred on the southbound lanes of the freeway at the above address.  The driver of a gray Tesla, not involved in the crash, and traveling southbound, swerved to avoid the crash and came to a stop partially on the left shoulder of the freeway. The Tesla did not strike any of the vehicles.

Mr. Farrar, operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed then struck the Tesla from behind.  Farrar and a female passenger on the motorcycle were ejected.  Paramedics pronounced Farrar deceased and transported the female, 46, to an area hospital in stable condition.  

The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.  

The investigation is ongoing.
