September 16, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5000 South Freeway (South State Highway 288) about 6:55 a.m. on Sunday (September 15).

The identities of the deceased male and female are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer N. Kumar reported:

The male was driving a red Jeep Wrangler southbound at the above address when the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane and struck the concrete pillar of a light pole. The vehicle became engulfed in flames. Paramedics pronounced the male and female deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
