September 10, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 12000 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 11:50 p.m. on Monday (September 9).

The suspect, Regell Aron Tillis, 64, is charged with murder in the 488th State District Court. A booking photo of Tillis is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 52, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. LaFour and Detective J. Diaz reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound in an apartment. Paramedics pronounced him deceased.

Detectives learned the suspect was in a neighboring apartment complex and were able to detain in inside an apartment.  Investigators consulted with the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Tillis was subsequently charged, arrested and booking into the Harris County jail.
