September 5, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 4400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 5 a.m. today (Sept. 5).

The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Campbell reported: 

The female, believed to be homeless, was possibly sleeping on the sidewalk entrance to the strip shopping center at the above address.  A preliminary investigation indicates she was likely struck by an unknown vehicle.  The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

At this time, there is no vehicle or suspect description.
