September 4, 2024 - A suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 8119 Jutland Road about 4:30 a.m. on June 22 is in custody.

The suspect, Danny Botley, 37, is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. A photo of Botley, who is in custody in Flint, Michigan, is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Devin Bell, 26.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Caten and M. Barrow reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a duplex residence at the above address and found the victim unresponsive and lying in the driveway.  He had been shot multiple times.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim, later identified as Mr. Bell, deceased.  

At that time, witnesses stated an argument between the victim and an unknown suspect may have occurred prior to the shooting.  

Further investigation identified Botley as the suspect and charges were filed against him on July 31. 

Last Thursday (Aug. 29), officers with the Flint Police Department arrested Botley without incident.  He is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
