Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 11800 Westheimer Road
October 14, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested who fired shots at a Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office deputy at 11800 Westheimer Road about 1:10 a.m. on Sunday (October 13).
The suspect, Keithan Carl Randall, 34, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and felony evading arrest in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Randall is attached to this news release.
The Precinct 5 deputy was not injured in the incident.
HPD Major Assault & Family Violence Division Detectives A. Montoya and J. Cimeni reported:
Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's deputies traveling eastbound near the above address saw a gray Infiniti sedan reversing in a moving lane of traffic. Deputies activated their emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the vehicle refused to stop and evaded deputies. At that time, a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
As an additional Precinct 5 patrol vehicle responded to the pursuit, the suspect fired a weapon toward the deputy's vehicle and struck the front left headlight. The deputy was not injured. The deputy was not struck by the gunfire nor did he return fire. Deputies then lost sight of the suspect vehicle.
The suspect later placed a 9-1-1 call and reported he had been kidnapped and forced to flee from officers. HPD Westside Patrol Division officers responded to the 1900 block of South Kirkwood Drive and detained the suspect, later identified as Randall. The vehicle was recovered, as well as fired rounds from inside the vehicle.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and Randall was subsequently charged for his role in the incident. Randall was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
