May 31, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10900 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 9:05 a.m. today (May 31).  

The identity of the deceased male, believed to be 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:  

The driver of a white Nissan Maxima was traveling westbound near the above address behind a blue Volvo tractor-trailer truck also traveling westbound on the freeway.  The Nissan failed to stay in a single lane, spun out of control and struck the rear of the 18-wheeler.  

The driver of the Nissan was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The male driver of the 18-wheeler remained at the scene and was questioned and released.  

The investigation is continuing.
