May 30, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 1307 Wilcrest Drive about 4:10 p.m. on February 17.

The male suspect, 13, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge. The male is in custody.

Juvenile suspect information and booking photos are not releasable.  

The victim is identified as Bryan De La Cruz Chaparro, 18.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives N. Henderson and L. Patterson reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the apartment complex parking lot at the above address and observed an unresponsive male in the driver's seat of a vehicle.  He had suffered at least one gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Chaparro, deceased.

Investigators later learned Chaparro was shot during a robbery. Further investigation identified the 13-year-old male as a suspect. He was already in custody of the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities when detectives filed the capital murder charge on Tuesday (May 28).
