May 28, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13800 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 1:10 a.m. on Saturday (May 25). 

The identity of the deceased male, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Johnson reported:  

According to witnesses, the male was driving a black Kia Sportage and was changing a rear left tire on his vehicle in a moving lane of traffic on the service road at the above address.  As he was storing the replaced tire in the trunk of his vehicle, the male and his vehicle were struck by a white Lexus RX350 traveling westbound on the service road.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. 

The Lexus' female driver, Maggie Anne Louise Weber, 29, stopped and remained at the scene. She exhibited signs of intoxication and was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.  Webber was charged with driving while intoxicated -2nd offense - in Harris County Criminal Court #1.

The investigation is continuing.
