May 28, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5200 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday (May 26).  

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Tran reported:  

The male, a pedestrian, attempted to cross the freeway main lanes when he was struck by a black GMC Terrain SUV traveling northbound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.  The female driver, 40, who showed no signs of impairment, remained at the scene and was questioned and released.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is pending results of a blood draw.
