May 23, 2024 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the assault of a man at 11142 Beltline Road about 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday (May 22).

Daniel Cortez, 22, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.  A booking photo of Cortez is attached to this news release.

The victim, 47, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. 

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers L. Thornton and S. Elias reported:

Officers responded to a report of a cutting at the above address and found the victim suffering from a laceration to his face.  The victim stated he was attacked by the suspect, Cortez, with a knife.  

Officers were able to locate Cortez nearby and he was identified by witnesses at the scene as the suspect.  The suspect was charged and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
