May 17, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2545 Gessner Road about 12:25 p.m. on Thursday (May 16).

The identity of the deceased male, 24, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer K. Stanley reported:

The male was lying on his stomach and leaning over a drainage hole in which he was performing work in the parking lot of the business at the above address.  A second worker was also present nearby and there were no cones placed out by the workers to signal work was being done. 

The driver of a black Dodge Charger pulled into the parking lot, which has a steep entrance angle, and struck the male.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male deceased.  The second worker was not injured. 

The female driver, 53, did not show signs of intoxication.  She was questioned and released with no charges filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
