May 13, 2024 - Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman and apparent suicide of a man at 3402 Coal Street found about 12:25 a.m. on Saturday (May 11).  

The identities of the deceased woman, 35, and the male suspect, 34, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to welfare check at the above address and found an unresponsive woman with apparent sharp force injuries and an unresponsive man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the residence.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced them deceased.  

A preliminary investigation determined the man and woman were married and the incident appears to be a murder-suicide.
