Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10600 Westheimer Road

May 10, 2024 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 10600 Westheimer Road about 10:15 p.m. Thursday (May 10).

The identity of the deceased juvenile male, 12, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer A. Mares reported:

At approximately 10 p.m. a westside patrol officer witnessed a collision between two vehicles near the 12000 block of Richmond. Officers witnessed the suspect vehicle, a grey Hyundai Sonata, flee from that crash and they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver continued to flee, initiating a pursuit.

While fleeing from the police, the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle in the 2800 block of Kirkwood and continued to flee. As the suspect vehicle entered the 10600 block of Westheimer it was involved in a third collision with three additional vehicles - a silver Infiniti G37, a white Nissan Rogue and a green Toyota Camry. This final collision disabled the suspect vehicle.

Four juvenile suspects (all believed to be black males between 12 to 13 years old) fled the vehicle on foot. Two passenger suspects were apprehended by the responding officers. The male who is believed to be the driver ran northbound from the crash site and was able to elude the officers.

Officers then found a fifth male unresponsive in the vehicle. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased

One of the suspects who attempted to evade on foot was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

It was learned during the investigation that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day.

The investigation is continuing.
