March 15, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6146 Glenhurst Drive about 7:55 p.m. on March 8.

The suspect, Randy Anthony Barnes, 61, is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court. Barnes' booking photo is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Willy Johnson, 55.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective M. Providence reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Johnson unresponsive in the driveway of a residence. He had suffered one gunshot wound and Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Further investigation identified Barnes as the suspect in this incident. Members of the HPD Southeast Division Crime Suppression Team arrested Barnes on Thursday (March 14) and he was subsequently charged.
