UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2018 Fatal Shooting at 2600 Lazy Hollow Drive

March 14, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2600 Lazy Hollow Drive about 9 p.m. on April 6, 2018.

The suspect, Octavious Deshown Hordge, 24, is charged with capital murder in the 482nd State District Court.  He is currently in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).  A 2022 booking photo of Hordge is attached to this news release.

The victim, Antonio McDowell, 17, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson, M. Burrow and Detective K. Heaverlo reported:

Officers responded to a  shooting call at the above address and found Mr. McDowell unresponsive inside an apartment.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.

At the time, there was no known suspect(s) or motive in the shooting. Further investigation led to the identity of Hordge as the suspect in this case.  The investigation determined Hordge shot McDowell during a robbery.

On Wednesday (March 13), Hordge was charged with capital murder for his role in the shooting.  Detectives learned Hordge was in TDCJ custody on other charges and is now awaiting extradition to Harris County for this incident.
