March 4, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 7500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 4:35 a.m. on Sunday (March 3).  

The suspect, Thiago Ortega Gamaro, 21, is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #6.    

The identity of the deceased male, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer N. Kumar reported:  

A male was driving a white Honda Accord at a high rate of speed northbound near the above address with his male passenger on the hood of the car.  The male was ejected from the hood of the car, landed on the ground and was struck by at least one or more vehicles.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.  

The driver of the Honda, identified as Ortega Gamaro, was determined to be impaired and was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the crash.
