June 28, 2024 - Houston police are investigating the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 800 North Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8) service road about 5:50 a.m. today.

The identity of the deceased male, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer M. Keita reported:

The male was riding a bicycle eastbound on the North Sam Houston Parkway service road when the driver of an unknown 18-wheeler, also traveling eastbound on the service road, struck him.

The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop to render aid. A witness stopped and called 9-1-1 to report the crash. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
