June 17, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man found at 4118 Sherwood Lane about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday (June 16).

The suspect, Ricky Ray Allen, 48, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. A booking photo of Allen is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 72, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass reported:

Officers responded to an apartment complex at the above address on reports a male had been assaulted. The officers found a man unresponsive in his apartment. He had suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

The victim's stepson, Ricky Allen, confessed to his role in the man's death. He was subsequently charged and taken to the Harris County Jail.
