June 3, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1200 South Wayside Drive about 9 p.m. on Sunday (June 2).

The identity of the deceased male, 37, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer C. Moralez reported:

The male, a pedestrian, was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford yellow van traveling westbound at the above address. Paramedics were called and pronounced the male deceased.

The male driver, 66, left the scene and later returned. He did not show signs of intoxication. The driver was questioned and released pending further investigation to determine who was at fault.
