July 24, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5700 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) about 1:15 a.m. today (July 24).  

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HJPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer T. Smith reported:  

The male was driving a gold Toyota 4Runner eastbound on the main lanes of the freeway at the above address when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree in a wooded area between the freeway and the service road.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.  

The investigation is continuing.
