July 18, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the shooting of a man at 17133 Imperial Valley Drive about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday (July 16).

The suspect, Marty Andrew West, 39, is charged with four felonies: aggravated assault of a family member, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation and unlawful carrying of weapon with a felony conviction.  The charges are filed in the 174th State District Court.

The victim, 19, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer B. Padilla reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in an apartment at a complex at the above address and found a male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital.

Witnesses told officers the suspect, West, had forced his way into the apartment, got into a physical altercation with the victim and then shot him. The suspect also assaulted another adult male before fleeing the scene.
