July 12, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 23200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 1:40 a.m. today (July 12).

The identity of the deceased male, 33, is pending verification by Montgomery County Forensic Services .

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division J. James and Officer F. Serna reported:

A silver Hyundai Sonata and silver Hyundai Genesis were involved in a head-on collision on the Eastex Freeway service road at the above address. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Sonata deceased at the scene and transported the male driver, 61, of the Genesis to an area hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told investigators the Sonata may have been driving the wrong way, traveling southbound on northbound lanes, at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
