July 7, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 10047 Westpark Drive about 8 p.m. on July 2.

The suspect, Bruce Wayne Gerard, 42, is charged with capital murder in the 482nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Gerard is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 25, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and C. Davidson reported:

Officers were dispatched to a home invasion call at an apartment at the above address and found a woman unresponsive inside one of the units.  She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.

At the time, there was no known suspect in the shooting.

After a thorough investigation, detectives identified Gerard as the suspect in the shooting.  He was arrested last Friday (July 5) without incident and subsequently charged.
