July 8, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 15000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday (July 7).  

The identity of the deceased male, 20, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Johnson reported:  

A blue Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on the main lanes of the freeway at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the exit ramp and struck a concrete barrier.  The vehicle continued onto the exit ramp, rolled several times and then struck a wall and a sign.  The vehicle, which split in two pieces, came to a stop.  

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.  

No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.  

The investigation is continuing.
