July 5, 2024 - Houston police are investigating the death of a child found at 6565 Hollister Street about 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday (July 3).

The identity of the deceased child, 3, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. Lamont and N. Lazo and Detective M. Providence reported:

Officers responded a call from the Houston Fire Department at an apartment complex at the above address.  Upon arrival, they were informed a 3-year old female had been mistakenly left inside a vehicle for more than an hour.  The child was discovered by her mother and transported to Texas Children's Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is continuing as detectives await results of an autopsy on the cause and manner of death.
