January 9, 2024 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man at 14476 Hillcroft Avenue about 1:10 a.m. on Saturday (January 6).  

The identity of the man, 59, and his cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective Wallschlaeger reported:  

Last Friday (January 5), about 8:35 p.m., HPD patrol officers responded to a hospital check call at the above address and learned a man had arrived at the emergency room to be treated for shortness of breath. The man stated he was assaulted earlier that evening at 14523 Zenith Street.  Medical personnel provided medical treatment to the man and, the following morning (Saturday, Jan. 6), he became unresponsive while at the facility.  Doctors pronounced the man deceased a short time later.  

The investigation is pending the man's manner and cause of death, to be determined by an autopsy.
