February 13, 2024 - Houston police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide incident after a male suspect was found deceased in Louisiana and a female victim was found deceased at 24506 Fir Ridge Court about 1:05 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 12).

The identities of the victim, 28, and suspect, in his 40s or 50s, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brown and Detective M. Condon reported:

Officers in Louisiana advised homicide detectives that a male fatally shot himself in their jurisdiction. Prior to his suicide, Louisiana authorities stated the male had confessed to his family that he killed his girlfriend in her Houston home and locked her son in a closet.

HPD officers and HFD paramedics quickly went to the residence at the above address and recovered the child, 2, inside a bedroom. He was taken to an area hospital in good condition, with no visible injuries. Officers discovered the child's mother in a separate bedroom. She was pronounced deceased. Pending results of an autopsy, it appears the victim was beaten and stabbed multiple times.
