February 7, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the investigation into the death of a female found at 13100 Halifax Street about 1:15 p.m. on January 11.

The suspect, Willie Issac Bernard Ewing, 33, is charged with tampering with evidence-human corpse in the 180th State District Court. A Nov. 2023 booking photo of Ewing, who is currently hospitalized, is attached to this news release.

The female is identified as Sierra Hayes, 29. Her manner and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow and R. Watson reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call at the above address and found the female unresponsive in a ditch. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the woman later identified as Ms. Hayes, deceased at the scene.

Further investigation determined Ewing's involvement in this incident. He was arrested on Monday (February 5) by officers from the HPD Gang Division's Crime Reduction Unit.

The investigation is pending Hayes manner and cause of death, to be determined by an autopsy.
