December 16, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 11211 Almeda Genoa Road about 8:55 a.m. on Thursday (Dec.5).

The suspect, Armando Ruiz Diaz, 47, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Ruiz Diaz is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Edward Jimenez, 45.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective V. Nguyen reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a gas station at the above address after a man arrived and told an employee he had been shot. Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the victim to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation determined the victim, later identified as Mr. Jimenez, was shot while in his vehicle, which had multiple bullet strikes.

Investigators identified Ruiz Diaz as a suspect in this case. He was arrested on Friday (Dec. 13) and booked into the Harris County Jail.
