August 26, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 2009 Colquitt Street about 7:35 p.m. on July 2.

The suspect, Alexis Maria Miller, 20, is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Miller is attached to this news release

The victim has been identified as Christos Simopoulos, 71.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detectives L. Brooks and K. Stringer reported:

Officers were dispatched to a person found deceased call at the apartment complex at the above address and observed the male victim inside an apartment. He had suffered apparent multiple stab wounds. Paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Simopoulos, deceased.

At that time, there was no motive or suspect description.

Further investigation identified Miller as the suspect in this case and, on August 20, a murder charge was filed. Last Friday (August 23), Miller was arrested by officers with the HPD Crime Reduction Unit without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
