August 23, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male found at 12200 Bissonnet Street about 11:50 a.m. on June 26.

The suspect, Roy Lee Herring, 23, is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. A booking photo of Herring is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Edgardo Alcantara Estrada, 25.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective K. Collier reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a crash at the above address and found a male had been shot while driving a vehicle near the intersection. The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a building at the location. The male, later identified as Mr. Alcantara Estrada, was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

At that time, the suspect vehicle was described only as a dark-colored sedan.

Further investigation and evidence collected from the scene identified Herring as the suspect in this case. Herring was arrested on Thursday (August 22) without incident and charged for his role in Alcantara Estrada's death.
